The X Factor Is Back At Last And Better Than Ever Before?

>> 24 August 2009

As you will all know The X Factor returned to ITV 1 on Saturday for it's sixth series. The popular show, which is made in different languages and formats across the globe, has been running for five years and has found some real talent, including the likes of Leona Lewis and Alexandra Burke, but who will be next? The new series is going to be a rollercoster ride of adventure and it sees the return of the two male judges Simon Cowell and Lewis Walsh alongside female judges Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue. I feel that the series is going to be fantastic this year with the new format working well for me. But are my views the same as everyone elses? Let me know what you think of the new X Factor series by leaving a comment below or in the chatbox. It's time to face the music! The X Factor - Saturdays - 7:00pm - ITV 1

The Perfect Series (Part 2)

>> 23 August 2009

Finally, I've completed the Perfect Series. If you don't know what I'm on about, click here, to read part 1. I have added 2 newcomers; Hart Hanson and David Wolstencroft. This part of the series just gets darker and darker...

Episodes 8 and 9 Written by Steven Moffat - Like his series 1 and series 4 two-parters, these two episodes will bring a chilling start to the last part of the series. The soon-to-be head writer has got to write his last "mid-series" two-parter, because, well there won't be much of a chance of him writing for this block of the series next year. I think this story should be just like he's used to; dark setting, brilliant villain, and brilliant characters. But let's not hope that series 5 is just going to be like that...

Episode 10 Written by Hart Hanson & Keith Temple - The first story written by two people! I wanted more outsiders, so I chose Hart Hanson, with a mystery episode, but seeing as though he probably doesn't know the first thing about the show, Planet of the Ood's Keith Temple will help him out. Hart Hanson is the creator and writer for Bones, a series based on forensics and mystery and crime. A much darker story still, and a great instalment for the Perfect Series.

Episode 11 Written by David Wolstencroft - As the series comes to an end, it still gets darker. David Wolstencroft is the creator and writer for the MI5 series Spooks, and the spin-off Spooks: Code 9. Now, I'm not so bossy for this episode, even though it's the penultimate story, but hopefully something very threatening...

Episodes 12 and 13 Written by Chris Chibnall - Torchwood's master, Chris Chibnall will complete the series. I thought his series finale's were actually better than Russell's recent two. He didn't go.. over the top with universal domination (even though that would have been very hard to write as it's mainly set in a base in Cardiff). Now, for this I do want him to expand more than he has for Torchwood, but not as near as Davros inventing a Reality Bomb. This needs the world on Red Alert and presumably an invasion. A movie-like invasion. But that doesn't mean that the actual story will not be overshadowed. And I don't want the return of the Master or the Daleks, there should be a new villain, or villains. I'm not sure if it can even fit into 2 parts of 45 minutes. There would be longer time if needed...

That's the series finished, with a half the Earth blown up...

So, what do you think of it? And who would you have chosen?

To be honest...

>> 22 August 2009

To be honest, thats the title and thats what im going to be... Honest. I think when Alex announced that a new site would take the place of ATTS we were all genuinely shocked to be honest, and when he opened it up we were all immpressed with the effort that had gone into the new one. But the thing is, Adventures Through Time And Space is a really good site, and it has everything you need! A chat page, guides, guestbooks, and alot more, but the thing is, as good as Wanderings in the 3rd dimension is, it will NEVER be as good as ATTS and i urge Alex to bring it back and use 3rd dimension as a personal blog, I know im not the only one who wants ATTS back. Ive heard alot of other people asking but Alex hasn't responded.

The reason im asking is because so much effort has gone into ATTS that it makes it one of the best Doctor Who blogs, and its such a waste to make a new site and leave it as it is because the time spent on it is amazing and anyone with half a brain cell should respect Alex for that because he is awe inspiring how he made such a good site even better than the official site itself.

So Alex, listen, im not asking you for much, WE are not asking you for much, just please, bring ATTS back. It's a fantastic site and im not saying 3rd dimension isnt but the thing is i think everyone would prefer ATTS to be back in business...

So sign this to get it back if Alex is defiant, you know what you want :)

Four of a Kind

>> 20 August 2009

Hi there, today, I have Futurama star Zoidberg, Torchwood maniac Blowfish, Doctor Who.. aliens the Ood and Davy Jones.. from Pirates of the Caribbean. What do they all have in common? They all look hilarious!! Oh, and they look very similar. As you can see..

Cool, isn't it? You've probably already seen this in other places on the net, but a post's a post! And I might, possible, way way in the future might.. start to think about posting another similarity post, so.. I suppose I've started off with a fairly obvious one, but err.. watch out.

The 2nd Part of the Perfect Series is coming very soon.. Just making some final tweaks on the decisions. I'm not that sure, but i'm sure some of my "co-workers" may have peaked a look.

Is TV Coming to an end as we know it?

>> 18 August 2009

Alright, I may have overexaggerated a little in the title, but I've been doing some research and have noticed that quite a few of some pretty decent television shows will not be returning in the 2009 - 2010 season. I myself am a HUGE TV fanatic, but I think after this, I may not be... Here's a list of TV shows that I've picked that are not coming back...

Boston Legal
The Unit
Reaper
Everybody Hates Chris
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
My Name Is Earl
Primeval
& Pushing Daisies

This is just a minority of TV shows that have been cancelled for the new season. And most of the above were great, I'll miss you Earl :( On the bright side here are some shows that will be returning...

Brothers and Sisters
Desperare Housewives
Grey's Anatomy
Heroes (YAY XD)
Lost (Sigh..)
Ugly Betty
The Big Bang Theory
CSI (Miami and NY too..)
Ghost Whisperer
Two and A Half Men
90210
Smallville
Supernatural
Family Guy
The Simpsons
Futurama

... and a lot more! I can only pick out about three of four of those shows which I'm glad about returning, the rest don't interest me. Still, there are other shows which will be returning, this isn't a full list! What are your thoughts on the 2009 - 2010 season? Are you happy about the cancellations and renewals?

Cancer Causing Ham!

>> 17 August 2009

The World Cancer Research Fund has told parents to stop putting processed meat such as ham in their children's lunchboxes. They urged parents to stop their children developing a taste for processed meat because eating too much of it over decades can raise the risk of bowel cancer.

The UK's Food Standards Agency said processed meat is good for lunchboxes but should not be eaten "too often". Over recent years, the link between processed meats and bowel cancer in adults has been discovered, suggesting that thousands of cases could be prevented if everyone limited how much processed meat they eat to 70g a week.

The Cancer Research Fund wants processed meats such as ham and salami on sandwiches to be replaced with chicken, fish or cheese. Marni Craze, the charity's children's education manager, said: "It is better if children learn to view processed meat as an occasional treat if it is eaten at all."

So what are your views on this? What will you think now when you put that nice cancer-causing ham in your mouth? Leave your thoughts in a comment.

Alien Sightings!

Yesterday, the MoD (Ministry of Defence) released information about over 800 UFO sightings to the public from 1981 to 1996!!

One of the cases released, was about 2 boys who saw a UFO hovering above a field in Chasetown, Staffs, in May 1995. Their report said that "the figure with a lemon-shaped head emerged and told them: “Come with us.”
Another boy, described as “a sensible lad” reported in July 1996 seeing a UFO hovering over a cemetery in Widnes, Cheshire, while firing laser beams into the ground.
He told police and an officer who visited the spot found four railway sleepers smouldering. One had a 4in hole burned through it. The officer reported: “It does look rather odd.”

You can read the full story with many other reports here, here and here, and click here for a video on the UFO Files.

Do aliens really exist? Or was it all just a hoax?

This isn't really that relevant to the post, but scientists have revealed new kinds of bacteria on the surface of Mars, so in that sense, aliens were already found..

Pooch In The Pot (+ Add Seasoning)

I can't quite believe the piece of news I've just heard about. How many of you have dogs? And how many of you love them too much to ever be able to... eat it? Yes, this is true, some madman in a native land far far away (more commonly known as New Zealand) has cooked his canine pet and eaten it for dinner. How horrible is that? It's more than strange...

Now I have absolutely nothing against New Zealand. In fact, I love the country having been there before years back, so I was flabbergasted when I learnt that somebody who lives in Auckland had done this. To get it out in the open, no, it was no accident, no, he probably isn't a 'lunatic' as such, so how did this happen? And why? I'm sure this sort of thing happens to individuals who have absolutely nothing to eat, anyone can understand that. But in a city like that, something is not right! I'm not going to name any other country/place that this could happen as I don't want to get in trouble, but there are those crazy reaches in out galaxy where it can happen. This man is Tongan-born (anyone care to explain where this is at all?) and his name is Paea Taufu. He was 'in the process of roasting his pitbull terrier-cross in a traditional Umu pit-barbecue when animal protection inspectors arrived to investigate. They were called by a concerned member of the public on Sunday but arrived too late for the animal.' Now I don't know about these 'Tongan' beings, but I can guess that this may happen regularly. But not in New Zealand! Can you not imagine those woofs coming from the barbecue, the sound slowly dying and becoming ever less frequent...

But it's funny. Anyone who agrees with me to say that this is cruel; is it actually? We eat (apart from you veggie lot) meat from other animals, so why are dogs any different? They're just the same as... pigs... ducks... cows... lambs etc. Except many people have them in their own households. 'Taufu' has kindly said that he will not cook another pooch just in case he upsets anyone again. Good Move!

So what do you all think. Is it right? How would you react if you saw it happen? And what do dogs actually mean to us?

What are your opinions...?

>> 16 August 2009

Hi There! This is Sylar from UDW and I must say, I'm deeply thankful to Adv, for letting me be part of this great site! I have developed an idea for the site to do a sort of weekly topic thing, but that's a boring title isn't it? Weekly Topic, sounds like something you'd find in a newspaper. Let's just call it Sylar's coolage weekly topic thingy which is by the way made of AWESOME. Catchy? Right, I'm getting a bit carried away. Every Sunday I'll be bringing up a topic on absolutely ANYTHING that's going on at the moment, anything that's on my mind, anything that I feel I have to talk about or it could even be something completely random off the top of my head. You can also send in ideas too! All you have to do to be part of Sylar's coolage weekly topic thingy which is by the way made of AWESOME is give your thoughts on something I mention in the post by commenting below! Right let's get started....

S.C.W.T.T.W.I.B.T.W.M.O.A - WEEK ONE
School Uniforms! Are they a waste of time? or do they keep you organised? You decide!

Post Your Thoughts Below! (P.S - I would really appreciate if people did actually take a bit of their time to give their thoughts, as this is just a test run to see how well it does, if it even goes well at all...)

Nope, It's Still There!

>> 15 August 2009

Well, after a visit to Cardiff today, I can officially confirm that Cardiff Bay is still standing in the exact same place it was without any damage, despite the events that occured when the government wanted to be rid of Torchwood. It seems that Torchwood has faked an explosion of their Hub, or the Bay has been rebuilt in a very short space of time. Just to confirm that Torchwood had shown the Bay destroyed with their base beneath, here is a picture:

So what on (Children of) Earth is going on here then? Anyone care to explain?

The Perfect Series (Part 1)

Hi, it's Patar, and my first post for Wanderings in the 3rd Dimension!

I've had this idea for a while but I've not been able to do it, as my Doctor Who site isn't really for this sort of stuff, this new site is the perfect base for it. I hope.

I've clobbed together a bunch of writers for what I think would make the perfect Doctor Who series. Don't worry, I'm not just going to post about Doctor Who all the time though.

Episode 1 Written by Russell T Davies - Ah, the old boss is back. Russell's series openers are just perfect. Most of the time. Smith and Jones, and Partners in Crime had brilliant and witty ideas, I think for my "perfect" series, this episode should have something, not too big like world domination, but should really reach out the imaginative possibilities of Doctor Who (Surprisingly, I don't think Doctor Who currently has a wide range of imagination so far).

Episode 2 Written by John Fay (Torchwood: Children of Earth Day Two and Day Four) Don't worry, I'll use writer's out of the circle later on in the series. John Fay wrote a magnificent second episode to Children of Earth, even though it didn't contribute much the the overall story, it was the most enjoyable. For the second episode in this series, John Fay should write something similar to the Torchwood episode. Like, a survival story, but just for the Doctor and his companion. (The series will get better...)

Episode 3 Written by the one and only.. Jaime Paglia. Who the hell is that?? The Russell T Davies of "A Town Called Eureka". Jaime Paglia's show and stories for Eureka are bursting with imagination, and is what needs to be added in this series. I'm sure the writer would have something quirky and fun to add.

Episodes 4 and 5 The first 2 parter! None other than... Russell T Davies? I just can't get rid of him! I want this to be written not just for the fans, but for him too. This could be a chance for him to write a story that isn't the series finale or the opener, just a random story in the series. Not too important but still stands out. Like the series opener, I don't want the world on red alert, but something fast paced and action packed.

Episode 6 Written by Ken Keeler. This may be a little weird. Ken Keeler has written a few episodes for The Simpsons, so why would I have him for Doctor Who? It's not The Simpsons that inspired me to have him, it's the younger brother (sometimes refered to as the older brother..) Futurama. Many of you know I'm a massive Futurama fan, and I knew that his stories would be brilliant for Doctor Who. All the writer needs to do, to adjust from Sci-Fi cartoon, to Sci-Fi Drama, is to make it more serious. Not too much though, and cut down on the comedy. Slightly.

Episode 7 Written by Paul Cornell. Back home, the writer of 2007's Human Nature/The Family of Blood would fit nicely to this series. Like that story, this episode should have a big impact to the Doctor. Maybe something like.. back to.. Gallifrey? Or is it too soon? I think it's too soon. Still, the Doctor should be even more center to this story than usual.

Now, my original plan was to have the whole series in here, but seeing as though I've taken up quite a lot of space just for half the series, I've split it into 2 parts. I will obviously have other posts in between, but I'll just need some time to plan out the second part of The Perfect Series. There will be more new, out of the Whoniverse writers too.

Please comment and place your thoughts. Maybe some ideas on what you think would be the perfect series. (Obviously, you don't need as much detail as I've done)

Micah the Serial Killer (Video Exclusive)

Hey! I'm Brad, who some of the visitors of this website may know me from my Doctor Who fan site, The Gallifrey Vortex. I will be working on this website alongside Adv, Patar and Kyle, and to celebrate the launch of Wanderings In The Third Dimension, I have created a special video. The video which runs for approximately one and a half minutes is entitled 'Micah the Serial Killer' and features 'Invaders must Die', a song by The Prodigy. As the video's title suggests, it's about a man called Micah who goes around killing people as a little hobby - nice! It can be seen below but be aware it is copyright to me and Wanderings in the Third Dimension:

Wanderings Have Begun

Are you prepared to make a journey into the 3rd Dimension?
How will your eyes view it?
Where will your mind wander?

Welcome to this brand-new site! Wanderings In The 3rd Dimension is a home to absolutely anything that can and does happen in the world. This site is pretty much an open site. It has a few writers who are able to express their views and talk about anything interesting to readers via posts written at any time during the day. Things like television and film, world news, events and anything else writers pick up on who would like to share it.

I, the owner of Wanderings In The 3rd Dimension (Adv, or Alex), used to run a Doctor Who website which some of you may remember and went by the name of Adventures Through Time and Space. It ran for approximately nine months before I got too busy and a little bored. I wanted freedom to write about absolutely anything I felt like writing about that people would like to hear. And so, I set Up 3rd Dimension. I hope you find our posts interesting and fulfilling, and I hope you check back regularly because you never know what to expect.

We have a few writers for 3rd Dimension at the moment. These people all have their own brilliant and popular Doctor Who news websites. Theres Brad who owns The Gallifrey Vortex, Patar who owns WhoviaVortex and Kyle that owns Doctor Who Mad Online. I pay my deepest respects and gratitude to these people as they will have their sites to work on as well. I don't expect them to work very hard on this site though!

At the moment I am looking for any writers who would be interested to contribute besides these people, if they would like to, because it's more fun that just having one individual. If you would like to apply, please email me by following the link in the page links under 'Contact Me'. But if not, please do still comment to give your opinion, the more that people join in, the better it gets!

We already have pages up, with the 'About' page to read all about how the site came to be, currently under construction. 'Reviews and Reports' takes, well, basically any reviews and reports posted here or any other ones not posted on the main page and collecting them. This covers any reviews writers want to leave, but mostly cover Television and Film. 'Videos' collects any videos found on YouTube that would be great to share with others. This page is still under construction. 'Site Designs' gives you an inside loom on the Main Designs, Banners and Logos used on the main page with information. For many people, this could be quite intriguing. 'Guestbook' mainly does what it says on the tin. Sign it and leave comments! Many Thanks to anyone that does! The 'Chat' page lets you talk to people in real-time without any need of refreshing the page. Basic rules apply and can be found on the page in the sidebar. Bear in mind though, that this page must be used well in order for it to stay.

Click 'Contact Me' if you need to get in touch with the owner for any questions or queries, and I would be delighted to reply to any emails sent.

Well, there's a first post, and I really don't think it's any good, but it gives you a little jist of the site. Have Fun

~ Adv (Owner)
